Starting next week, sidewalk construction on Bank Street between Center Street and Church Street will lead to disruptions in part of the downtown, including: increased noise, limited sidewalk access and the temporary loss of parking spaces.
This project, which will replace crumbling sidewalk on Cherry Street, has been a focus of the Department of Public Works for some time. The final product will be a more pedestrian friendly sidewalk with nicer aesthetics.
There are seven parking spaces on the south side of Bank Street that will be unavailable during the sidewalk replacement. Downtown visitors should utilize Marketplace Garage across the street which offers two hour free parking.
Work is planned to commence on Wednesday morning (10/11), with parking meters bagged on Tuesday evening (10/10). Weather and emergent issues may all contribute to a change in schedule. City officials are working with local businesses to minimize the impact of this construction.
Park Burlington will work to provide updates on this and other constructions projects as they arrive. Check out website as well as our Facebook and Twitter for more information.
