On September 20th, Park Burlington hosted a, “Garage Walkabout”, designed to get honest feedback from users about the cleanliness and safety in Burlington’s downtown public parking garages. Our garages are often the first impression our visitors have of Burlington and improving the customer experience in our garages is one of our goals.
The event featured 10 volunteers who either park in the garages or have customers that do so, as well as representatives from the Burlington Business Association (BBA), Department of Public Works (DPW) and the Church Street Marketplace (CSM). Beginning at the Bank Street entrance to Marketplace Garage, the group walked path designed to visit parts of all three garages, including areas that have drawn concerns in the past.
Park Burlington is planning an evening version of the Walkabout and looking for your help! Anyone interested in taking part can email [email protected] and/or fill out their availability by clicking here!
This event is an opportunity to show positive changes that have been made in the garages, however our primary goal is to allow community members to voice their thoughts and concerns about all aspects of the garage. Comments from our afternoon session came from a range of topics including: cleanliness, lighting, signage and garage security. Guests also were asked to take a short survey at the end of the event to help us fully learn about where we need to improve.
The Garage Walkabout is an important opportunity for officials to hear the thoughts of garage users and find areas of concern going forward. Our team, including DPW who manages these garages, will work to address these issues going forward. Once both Garage Walkabouts are finished, our team will be compiling all of the notes, suggestions and feedback and sharing our findings. Again, anyone interested in helping us improve the customer experience in BTV, please fill out your availability here.
Park Burlington will continue to give updates on this and other parking and transportation projects in Burlington on our website, facebook and twitter.
