Downtown Garages Install New Security Cameras

In an effort to improve the customer experience for people visiting Burlington, Park Burlington and the Department of Public Works are excited to announce the installation of brand new security cameras in City Garages.

The new cameras will provide a clear view of activity within the garage 24 hours a day, limiting blind spots and acting as a deterrent to unlawful activity. Lakeview and College Street Garages are fully installed, Marketplace Garage will be completed by the end of this year.

For the first time, new cameras will be hooked up to a live feed to the Burlington Police Department, with dispatchers able to alert officers of any issues in the garages.

This fall, Park Burlington held its second Garage Walkabout to hear public comments about the current state of Burlington Garages. Since that time we have committed ourselves to addressing these comments, in hopes of ensuring a quality user experience. We plan to host an evening version of our walk-about in early-2018, stay tuned for how you can sign-up!

New cameras are part of a number of improvements the City has announced recently. Among these, are new energy efficient LED lights which will also improve public safety.
