Please note: credit/debit cards can be used at all meters when using Parkmobile. Handicap parking is free at all on-street meters with proper placard or plate.

Effective 12/21/17, Burlington’s on-street parking policy changed. To recap:

  • Parking hours in the Downtown Core will change from 8am-10m to 9am-9pm
  • Parking hours outside the Core will change from 8am-6pm to 9am-6pm
  • All 15-minute meters will change to 30-minute meters to increase value and encourage more use

Receipts

In order to receive a receipt for parking at the Smart Meters, go to www.myparkingreceipts.com and follow the instructions on the home page.

If you constantly use the same credit card to pay for parking, you may set this up to automatically send a receipt at the end of each parking cycle.

Don’t Forget! Parking is still FREE on Sundays and holidays

Monthly Leases

The City of Burlington offers leases at Marketplace Garage, Lakeview Garage, the Elmwood Avenue Lot (25 Elmwood Ave.) and the Main Street Lot (across from Mr. Mike’s Pizza). Please contact Larry Tucker at DPW to check availability. Monthly cards will allow entrance and exit at these two garages only.

Lease Rates:

5-day monthly lease, Mon-Fri: $80

6-day monthly lease, Mon-Sat: $96

Elmwood Avenue Lot (7-day monthly lease): $55

Main Street Lot (7-day monthly lease): $65

Residential Permits:

To receive a permit, the following documents must be provided:
Students

  • Completed Current Lease
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Valid Registration
  • Valid School ID

Students will be issued a permit for up to one year. Students will be issued two guest passes per dwelling unit.
Renters/Homeowners

  • Valid Driver’s License with address of Resident parking street
  • Valid Registration

Renters/Homeowners will be issued a permit for up to two years. Renters/Homeowners will be issued two guest passes per dwelling unit.

Residents may petition to have their streets designated for resident parking only.  To initiate a request to install a new Resident Parking area, or to make a change in an existing Resident Parking area, please follow this link.

Handicap Parking

Handicap parking is free and available on Burlington’s streets and in City-run garages: Marketplace Garage (47 S Winooski Ave), Lakeview Garage (45 Cherry St.) and College Street Garage (60 College Street). Parkers must have proper placard or plate showing handicap access. View all parking options in our interactive parking map here!

Unified Parking Partners (UPP) offers handicapped parking for free in their Courthouse Garage (199 Main Street). UPP requires handicap parkers to:

  1. Press the “Press for Assistance” button when exiting the garage
  2. Inform the responding attendant you have handicap access
  3. Show your handicap placard to the camera and provide the placard number
