Getting Around BTV: Farmers’ Market

The Burlington Farmers Market is back! Since 1980, the weekly event has created a buzz in City Hall Park every Saturday from spring to late fall.

With more than 90 vendors, the Farmers’ Market draws both locals looking for fresh produce for that night’s dinner, as well as, visitors to the area seeking artisan made crafts and more.

The summer location of the Burlington Farmers’ Market could not be more central. Surrounded by Main Street to the south, St. Paul Street to the west, College Street to the north and Church Street to the east, City Hall Park is at the heart of downtown Burlington. It features easy access by car, foot, bike and public transport.

For those driving downtown, be aware that traffic will be slow on College Street near Church Street due to pedestrian traffic and vehicles unloading produce. Also, St. Paul Street will be closed between Main and College Streets. Looking for a place to park? Marketplace, College Street and Lakeview garages are all nearby, providing ample parking, free for the first 2-hours and easy access to City Hall Park. Check out rates here! Check out our interactive parking map to see the locations of all public and private parking locations in the downtown.

For anyone traveling by bike, secure bike parking is offered at the north end of City Hall Park. See an interactive bike parking map here and check out Burlington’s new bike share program, greenride bike share here!

Green Mountain Transit’s Downtown Transit Center is located at 100 Cherry Street; the Transit Center is just about a 5 minute walk down Church Street from the Farmers’ Market. Be sure to check out their Saturday bus schedule. Remember, the College Street Shuttle is free and can get you from the waterfront, to the Farmers’ Market and all the way “up the hill”.

The Burlington Farmers’ Market will continue every Saturday through the end of October, from 8:30am-2:00pm. For more information head to their website or find them on Facebook. Also, keep an eye out for parking and transportation updates via Park Burlington’s Facebook, Twitter and website.
