Part of proposed parking improvements for the Burlington, VT area include the introduction of credit-card-enabled ‘smart-meters’. Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger claims that he is please about the initiative and feels it is helping the City move “toward making our downtown parking system more convenient, safer, and financially viable over the long-term.”
The proposed system improvements would include a rate increase to support the changes to the area. The rate should generate an additional $493,000 for fiscal year 2015 to fund projects such as repair and upkeep of aging parking garages, invest in new technologies and other improvements to the current parking system
