Enforcement Hours Reduced! Read More…

Parking enforcement changes that began on December 1st have now been made permanent. Initially the changes were part of a pilot study.

The City will implement the following exciting changes to improve our parking policy:

  • Parking hours in the Downtown Core and the City lot at the corner of Main Street and South Winooski will change from 8am-10m to 9am-9pm
  • Parking hours outside the Core will change from 8am-6pm to 9am-6pm
  • All 15-minute meters will change to 30-minute meters to increase value and encourage more use
  • Smart meters will accept your payment and wait to start the timer until after enforcement starts. To do this with older meters you will need to use Parkmobile

Burlington enforces parking to create turnover and ensure prime parking is available in our downtown. The City’s goal is 85% occupancy, the industry standard, allowing for one to two parking spots available per block. Data was collected on key days and times across the previous two years and these policy changes are aimed at bringing us closer to 85% occupancy in the early morning and late evening.

Parkmobile
is Burlington’s pay-by-cell app and can be used at all meters in Burlington. Learn more about how to use Parkmobile to get $3 off your on-street parking this holiday season here and view all on-street parking options here. Don’t Forget! Parking is still FREE on Sundays, holidays and for two-hours in City Garages.
