The City of Burlington, VT has proposed an increase in parking rates to generate approximately $493,000 additional revenue to benefit the much depleted traffic fund. The hike in parking rates would go towards repairs to the aging parking garage and introduce new parking technologies to the area.
The increase in costs is related to a plan to purchase 310 meters which are credit-card-enabled, which were also brought on to address a repeated complaint that coin operated parking is outdated and inconvenient.
