As part of the Great Streets Project, SD Ireland continued work on St Paul Street. Below is a summary of what they did last week and what they are planning to do this week.
NOTE: Parking is FREE for the first hour at 194 St Paul Street covered lot ($1/hr thereafter), businesses will remain open throughout construction and pedestrians are always welcome. See map below for more info or check out our interactive map for other parking options.
What Happened Onsite Last Week:
SD Ireland continued excavating for subbase and placing subbase between Maple Street and King Street and the south side of the King Street intersection. Excavation continued for rain gardens, tree grates, soil cells, and pervious pavers on the east and west side of the road between King Street and Main Street. DiStefano Landscaping was onsite for part of the week working on placing soil cells and drainage aggregate for pervious pavers and tree grates.
Next Week Look Ahead:
Crews will continue subgrading the road on the north side of the King Street intersection. SD Ireland will be installing a catch basin and the remaining storm pipe in the King Street intersection. Di Stefano Landscaping will be onsite working on soil cells and rain gardens between King Street and Main Street. It is possible sidewalk excavation could begin on the west side of Saint Paul Street between King Street and Main Street
Possible impacts:
King Street will remain a one way street between Church Street and Pine Street. Traffic will be traveling west (Church to Pine). The Hilton/TD Bank exit will change to outlet onto King Street over the weekend. The exit will switch back to Main Street on Monday while SD Ireland is installing subbase in the King Street intersection. The west sidewalk between King Street and Main Street will be closed to through pedestrian traffic. Lastly, the cross walks at the King Street intersection may be closed for part of the week, “Sidewalk Closed”, “Cross Here” signs will be placed when this occurs.
