Saint Paul Street Construction Update 6/22/19

As part of the Great Streets Project, Construction continues on Saint Paul Street. Below is a summary of what has been completed in the last week and what is in the works for the week ahead.

NOTE: Parking is FREE for the first hour at 194 St Paul Street covered lot ($1/hr thereafter), businesses will remain open throughout construction and pedestrians are always welcome. See map below for more info or check out our interactive map for other parking options.

What Happened Onsite Last Week:

SD Ireland continued excavating and installing sidewalk subbase, and DiStefano Landscaping installed trees and soil cells. Both developments were made between Main Street and King Street. SD Ireland formed tree grates on the west side of the road, and began pouring concrete sidewalk starting at Main Street heading south. Excavation continued on the east side of the road between King Street and Maple Street for rain gardens, pervious pavers, tree wells, and soil cells.

VT Gas and Ryan J Excavation worked on gas servicing Wednesday through Friday, but this was not part of the St. Paul Street project.

Next Week Look Ahead:

SD Ireland will continue excavating for rain gardens on King Street, will continue sidewalk prep on the lower west side between Main Street and King Street, and will continue pouring sidewalk at the south east corner of the Main Street intersection.

Burlington Electric Department (BED) will be onsite next week to work with SD Ireland to install temporary street lighting on the west side of the road.

Possible Impacts:

The west sidewalk between Main Street and King Street will be closed to through pedestrian traffic. Later in the week, the east side of the road may be closed to through pedestrian traffic, but there will be access on the west side when this occurs. The west sidewalk starting on King Street may also be closed later in the week to through pedestrian traffic while SD Ireland works on sidewalk subbase excavation and installation. The crosswalk on the south side of Main Street will be closed for the week.

The Stratos garage entrance will enter and exit from Maple Street. The sidewalk on the north east and south east corners of King Street may be closed for a day and the Hilton and TD Bank exit may also be closed while SD Ireland continues to prep and pour sidewalk.
