The introduction of 310 Burlington, VT credit-card- enabled ‘smart-meters’ will be delayed until November 1, 2014 due to a shipping issue. Therefore, proposed rate increases of 50 cents per hour will be postponed until after this date. The original proposed release dates of meters and parking rate hike was scheduled for October 1, 2014.
Kelly Devine, who is an executive director of the Burlington Business Association and heading the project, claims that they “expect some people are motivated by convenience, and some people are motivated by price,” and they wanted to be certain they provided options for parking to both. According to Devine, the city of Burlington is also planning to increase the number of signs that could help drivers find some of the lesser known parking spaces and garages in the area.
