As part of the Great Streets Project in Burlington, Vermont, construction continues on St Paul Street and environs. Below is a summary of what happened last week, what is coming up this week and possible impacts.
NOTE: Parking is FREE for the first hour at 194 St Paul Street covered lot ($1/hr thereafter), businesses will remain open throughout construction and pedestrians are always welcome.
Last Week
SD Ireland continued removing pavement and excavating on the east and west side of St Paul between Main Street and King Street for underdrain installation and prep for soil cell installation and rain garden installation.
The Maple Street intersection was closed Monday morning and they began excavating for the water line replacement. They opened up all the water lines, installed new water ones on Thursday/Friday and began backfilling.
Next Week
SD Ireland will be replacing the waterline in the Maple Street intersection and will continue excavating on the west and east side between Main Street and King Street.
Di Stefano Landscaping may begin work on Monday installing soil cells and rain garden material between Main Street and King Street.
SD Ireland will be working between Main Street and Trattoria Delia on the east side of the street removing sidewalk and working on the new window wells.
Possible Impacts
Stratos garage entrance and exit will be from King Street.
Maple Street intersection will be closed off. Please look for detour signs and local traffic only signs.
Crosswalks will be closed at the Maple Street intersection but sidewalks turning at the intersection will remain open. *See attached map for clarification.

The east sidewalk between Main Street and King Street may be closed to through pedestrian traffic. Businesses will be accessible from either Main Street or King Street.
