What Happened Onsite Last Week:
SD Ireland continued excavating and placing subbase and prepping for sidewalk on the east side of the road between Main Street and King Street. They finished forming, pouring and cutting sidewalk on the west side of the road between Main and King and at the south east corner of the Main Street intersection. They also placed grates on the tree grates on the west side of the road between Main and King. Two utility poles were removed between King and Maple, and SD Ireland worked on installing soil cells for the tree wells in the two locations where the utility poles were located.
Prep work was done for the granite curb on the east and west side of the road between King and Maple. Burlington Electric Department (BED) was onsite setting five new light poles on the west side of the road between Main and Maple Street.
Next Week Look Ahead:
This week, SD Ireland will continue excavation and placing sub-base for the sidewalk on the east side of the road between Main and King. They will also continue to form, pour, and cut sidewalk on the east side of the road between Main and King. Work on the sidewalk on the west side of the road between King and Maple will continue, as well as the prep for granite curb on both the east and west sides of the road in the Maple Street intersection. Granite State will be onsite Wednesday-Friday setting granite curb between King and Maple.
Possible Impacts:
The east sidewalk between Main and King will be closed to through pedestrian traffic for the week, but the west sidewalk will still be open. The west sidewalk between King and Maple may be closed to through pedestrian traffic for the week. The Stratos garage will be accessible from Maple Street (both the entrance and exit) for the start of the week, but will switch to being accessible from King Street later on in the week.
Please note that this update refers to the St. Paul Great Streets project and the work our contractor, SDI, is completing. We also have an adjacent water main rehabilitation project on Maple Street, east of St. Paul. Paving will follow the water main project.
