Construction continues on Saint Paul Street this week as part of the Great Streets Project. Below is a summary of what has been completed in the previous week and what to expect for the week ahead.
What Happened Onsite Last Week
SD Ireland continued to install granite weirs in the rain gardens between King Street and Maple Street. They also cleaned up the street to prepare for binder course of pavement and later paved the binder course between King Street and Maple Street.
DiStefano Landscaping was also onsite and finished installing previous pavers on the east side of the road between King Street and Maple Street. They were also able to install pavers in the crosswalk on the south side of the King Street intersection.
Next Week Look Ahead
SD Ireland will be installing the paver crosswalk on the north side of Maple Street. They will be working on adjusting the curb. This process includes installing the light pole bases, excavating and placing sidewalk subbase on the south side of the Maple Street intersection. To install fences on rain gardens, it is possible that they will be working between Main Street and King Street. Paving top coat between King Street and Maple Street is set to happen on Friday 9/27.
Burlington Parks, Rec, and Waterfront may install plantings in the rain gardens between King Street and Maple Street. The rain gardens there may have pea stone installed in them by DiStefano Landscaping. The installation of the paver crosswalk on the north side of Maple Street will also be done by DiStefano Landscaping. Lafayette will be onsite installing signs between King Street and Maple Street. BED will also be onsite installing light poles.
All construction look ahead details are subject to change due to weather and site condition.
Possible Impacts
Despite construction, the sidewalks between Main Street and King Street and King Street to Maple Street should remain open throughout the week. The crosswalk crossing the north side of Maple Street, however, will be closed for the week while the crosswalk is being installed. The Maple Street intersection will also be closed to traffic. There is also potential for crosswalks in the Maple Street intersection area to be closed for part of the week.
The Stratos garage will have cars entering and exiting from King Street.
